402 - Celebrating Intersectionality: Reproductive Justice with Charo Valero

Listeners, this week we have a conversation with Charo Valero

In this episode of Cafe con Pam, Pam chats with Charo Valero, a dedicated advocate shaking things up in the world of reproductive justice and immigrant rights. Charo opens up about her fascinating journey from Panama to the U.S. and how she found her calling in advocacy. They dive into important discussions about identity, the struggles faced by Latine communities, and why shifting cultural perspectives is crucial. Plus, Charo sheds light on the importance of blending activism with rest and joy to sustain the fight for justice.

Born and raised in Panama City, Panama, Charo Valero (she/ella) has called Miami her home for the past 18 years, where she currently resides with her wife and their geriatric furbabies.

Charo is primarily an activist and organizer, prioritizing statewide policies that impact reproductive justice while building power and solidarity in communities of color. She is currently the Florida State Manager for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice.

Charo is a Virgo who loves traveling, Excel and a good laugh.
