Founder and CEO of Flourish LLC, Jazmin Diaz shares her journey from public education to tech leadership, overcoming self-doubt, and embracing authenticity. She discusses personal growth, leadership, and the power of intentional self-care. Discover her insights from Ignite Your Growth and how she empowers individuals to unlock their full potential.
What's a typical day in your life look like?:
My days begin with gratitude, reflection, and prayer—spending quiet time with God before stepping into the demands of the day. This sacred time centers me, providing clarity and strength. After that, I prioritize movement, starting my day with a workout to fuel both my body and mind.
The rest of the morning is dedicated to the day-to-day priorities of my business, Flourish, along with any family matters that require my attention. One of my favorite parts of my day is lunch with my son, Isaac, every day. I use this time not only to connect with him but also to step outside for fresh air and a quick walk, allowing me to reset and recharge.
Afternoons are reserved for engaging with my community—whether through coaching sessions, networking meetings, or speaking engagements, each interaction reinforces my commitment to growth and empowerment. Evenings are a time for family, relaxation, and reading, helping me unwind and reflect with gratitude on the day’s moments of impact.
This balance of faith, productivity, and self-care keeps me aligned with my purpose and deeply connected to those I serve.
What is the most rewarding part of your work?:
Witnessing the transformative journeys of individuals who, through embracing the principles of growth and resilience, unlock their true potential. It's profoundly fulfilling to see someone overcome self-doubt, embrace their strengths, and flourish in both their personal and professional lives. Knowing that my words and guidance have played a role in their empowerment is the greatest reward I could ask for.
How would you say your upbringing and cultural background contributed to your career aspirations?:
I spent my early childhood in Degollado, Jalisco, Mexico, from infancy until the age of 9, and during that time, I fell deeply in love with the people and traditions that shaped my foundation. Those years instilled in me a deep appreciation for community, hard work and our culture.
At age 9, I returned to the United States, where I continued my education from elementary through high school, navigating the challenges of adapting to a new environment while holding onto the rich heritage of my roots. I was raised by my grandparents, who taught me the power of perseverance and an unwavering work ethic—values that continue to guide me in everything I do.
Lessons such as integrity, humility, discipline, and the importance of showing up for others became the foundation of my career aspirations and mission to empower others.
What would you say has been your biggest obstacle in launching a successful career? How have you overcome it?:
Overcoming the internalized belief that I needed to conform to external expectations to achieve success was a significant challenge. For years, I grappled with self-doubt and the fear of not fitting the conventional mold. Through introspection, mentorship, and embracing my authentic self, I learned that my unique perspective is my greatest asset. By honoring my true identity and leveraging my distinct experiences, I was able to carve a path that resonates deeply with others and leads to genuine fulfillment.
What is the phrase, sentence, or conversation that stopped you in your tracks and changed your outlook in life?:
During a particularly difficult chapter in my life when I felt defeated and down, I was driving, listening to SiriusXM’s Pitbull station—a place where Armando “Pitbull” Pérez often shares words of wisdom, advice, and encouragement.
At that moment, his voice came on and said:
"You can look at life with F.E.A.R.—Fear Everything And Run, or Face Everything And Rise."
Those words hit me hard. They were exactly what I needed to hear at that time. The message resonated deeply, and in that instant, something shifted within me. It became the catalyst that helped me get back on my feet and return to the centered, strong, and capable woman that I am.
Since then, I’ve often caught myself reflecting on F.E.A.R. as a guiding principle. It’s a reminder that challenges are inevitable, but we always have a choice: to let fear hold us back or to rise above it and move forward.
p.s. that quote of F.E.A.R. I learned is originally from Zig Ziglar
Where might you be found on a Saturday afternoon with no plans?:
In the summer, you’ll find me soaking up the sun—whether it’s lakeside, poolside, or at the beach, fully embracing the warmth and enjoying the company of those around me. There’s nothing like the feeling of sunshine, fresh air, and good vibes.
In the winter, I take a different approach to relaxation—curled up with a warm cup of tea or cafecito, wearing my favorite sweats and cozy socks, cuddled up with my husband, and watching a good movie. Whether it’s sunshine or sweater weather, I always find a way to unwind and recharge.
When are you the happiest?:
I am the happiest when I am living my purpose—when I know that my work, my actions, and my presence are making a difference in the lives of others. Whether it’s coaching, mentoring, speaking, or simply offering encouragement, nothing fulfills me more than helping someone recognize their potential and take steps toward growth.
But, I especially find deep joy in supporting and loving my family. They are my greatest source of strength and motivation, and every moment spent nurturing, guiding, and celebrating them fills my heart.
Hustle culture and burnout is so prominent in our community. How do you prioritize self care?:
I prioritize self-care with intention—by being mindful of my energy, my time, and my boundaries. One of the most powerful ways I protect my well-being is by saying no to things that don’t align with my goals, values, or overall path.
I’ve learned that rest is just as important as productivity, and that overcommitment leads to depletion, not success. Protecting my time allows me to show up fully present and engaged in the things that truly matter—my health, my family, and my purpose-driven work.
Self-care isn’t just about taking breaks; it’s about being intentional with where I invest my time and energy so that I can continue to flourish without burning out.
Same goes for imposter syndrome. How do you combat those feelings (if any)?:
Imposter syndrome is something I’ve faced and fought many times in my journey, and it’s a topic I deeply explore in my book, Ignite Your Growth. One of the most effective ways I combat those feelings is by leaning on God and reminding myself that growth and discomfort go hand in hand—just because something feels unfamiliar doesn’t mean I don’t belong there.
In my chapter “Lean Into Your Shortcomings”, I talk about how embracing what we don’t know, rather than fearing it, can be a game-changer. Instead of letting self-doubt take over, I acknowledge the discomfort, seek knowledge, and take action. Growth isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about having the courage to keep learning.
I also reference this in the chapter “Getting Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable”, where I highlight that stepping into spaces that challenge us is how we expand our confidence and capabilities. I remind myself that I have earned my seat at the table through experience, hard work, and resilience.
I've learned that the key is understanding that self-doubt is a sign of growth, not failure. Instead of letting it hold me back, I use it as fuel to push forward and step into my power.
What accomplishment are you most proud of, both in your personal and professional life?:
I am most proud of being a mother, a wife, and a woman who is living her purpose—balancing the roles that mean the most to me while continuing to grow and make an impact.
Personally, I take immense pride in the love and dedication I pour into my family. Being a mother has been my greatest role, teaching me resilience, patience, and unconditional love. Navigating life’s challenges while ensuring my family is supported and thriving is an accomplishment I hold close to my heart.
Professionally, I am proud of building a career rooted in purpose—one that allows me to continue learning, inspire, empower, and uplift others. Whether through my book, Ignite Your Growth, my coaching, speaking engagements, mentoring others, or at work. I take pride in creating meaningful impact and helping people recognize their potential.
Ultimately, my greatest accomplishment is aligning my personal and professional life with my values, showing up fully in both, and proving that success doesn’t have to come at the cost of what matters most.
These questions are based on the Five Wounds of Calladita Culture®, Pam's body of work she's developed over time. Please pick at least one and answer. :
Earlier in my life, I struggled with both—committing to myself too little and overcommitting to others too much. I said yes too often—to tasks, responsibilities, and obligations that I didn’t necessarily have to take on. I felt an internal pressure to be everything for everyone, believing that saying no meant I was letting people down.
Over time, this constant overcommitment led me to a breaking point. As I referenced in my answer to “What is the phrase, sentence, or conversation that stopped you in your tracks and changed your outlook in life?”, I found myself in a dark, defeated mental state. The weight of overextending myself took a toll not only on my mental and emotional well-being but also physically, impacting my ability to show up fully for my family and, most importantly, for myself.
That experience forced me to reassess my boundaries and redefine what true commitment meant. I realized that prioritizing myself wasn’t selfish—it was necessary. Now, I am intentional about protecting my time, energy, and well-being, ensuring that I am giving from a place of abundance rather than depletion. I’ve learned that my ability to serve others is strongest when I also commit to myself first.
