María José (Majo) Calderón is an award winning documentary producer, editor from Chile based in Oakland. She has produced and edited short and feature length documentaries for public television, Netflix, Fusion, Univision, LinkTV, ESPN and others.

In 2021 she co-produced and edited the short documentary "A Pescador in the town" part of the Latino Public Broadcasting series “Latinos Are Essential”

In 2022 she co-produced "Normal Ain't Normal" a web series starring Rosario Dawson, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, and Martin Sensmeier. In 2020 co-produced the award winning Frontline documentary, COVID's hidden toll, about how the COVID crisis has hit vulnerable immigrants and undocumented workers who have helped keep America fed during the pandemic.

Her most recent project "Water for Life," a feature documentary she produced and edited premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival (2023) where it received the Audience Favorite Award and the Best Feature Award at the Isla Verde International Environmental Film Festival (2024). The film is scheduled to air on PBS in 2025.

Driven by her passion for human rights, environmental justice, and equity, Majo sees film as a powerful medium for positive social change. Her unwavering belief in the transformative power of storytelling underscores her dedication to creating a more just and compassionate society, one film at a time.
